“One of sludge’s most insidious effects is our ever-diminishing trust in institutions… Once that skepticism sets in, it’s not hard for someone like Elon Musk to gut the government under the guise of efficiency.” www.theatlantic.com/ideas/arc…

This episode fucking wrecked me. Completely, utterly devastating. www.nytimes.com/2025/07/0…

One of the best articles I’ve read in a long time— “taste is the new intelligence.” I think I highlighted every paragraph. (h/t @kai_t_b) wildbarestepf.substack.com/p/taste-i…

I smashed my finger collapsing a stroller this afternoon (UGH) but gotta admit I got a kick out of this ChatGPT response when I asked about treating it. “booby-trapped ankle-snapping finger-gnashing hell machines masquerading as family gear.”

Unexpected — curious and excited to see what comes out of this. Congrats to @alexkehr and the Superlocal team! www.threads.com/@alexkehr…

This is such a fun word of the day—I had no idea “acme” had a meaning beyond the cartoons learnwithlookup.com/share/ind…

First flying lesson today—wish me luck!

But on the flip side, the affordable art fair in Austin this weekend was absolutely lovely. Great show, highly recommend. affordableartfair.com/fairs/aus…

I need art galleries / art fairs to make themselves explicitly no-kids. Not because I mind the kids being there, but because I need them to save me from inflicting this upon myself. My kids + art fairs = not fun.

Parenting thought today: my biggest frustrations with my kids tend to be when they struggle with something I excel at, i.e. decision-making, moving fast, focus. Now trying to reframe these moments as reminders that 1/ they are not me and 2/ this is what I am supposed to teach.

I have long wanted a place to track what I read, watch, and play—so I built my own. Just a low-key section on my website for now (and only this year), but fun to put together: alexpriest.com/timeline/

Raddle is a very fun new word game. Might accompany my morning coffee ritual alongside Bracket City… raddle.quest

This fluid audio visualizer by @dakd_jung is so cool. Looks like it made waves (lol) in 2021 but I missed it then. Would love to get my hands on one of these. https://burnslap.me/26

Launch day! I revamped my website, updated my bio, added a /now page, and embedded my microblog. It’s a permanent work in progress, but check it out / sign up here: alexpriest.com
